Via Internet correspondence, these paintings were executed by the studio artists of a painting factory in Dafen, China in response to my request that each artist employed there hand-paint a portrait of him or herself. This self-reflective task was answered with the production of 52 oil paintings corresponding to each of the artists who were employed under the company’s General manager, Yu Lin. After receiving each of the artist's portraits, I created an oil on canvas self-portrait of myself and mailed it to Yu Lin in China. He then sent back a photo of him holding my portrait. This photo is displayed in the frame.
