Crash Series was inspired by Caspar David Friedrich's painting of an icy shipwreck entitled ''The Wreck of the Hope'' as a prime example of Romanticism in nineteenth-century painting.
The crashes are quiet events, nestled between neo-romantic themes of affliction and allegories of landscape painting. I am interested in showing the possibility of a transfigured reality, of transformation, of soaring and falling, planes crashing through planes and the inherent poetry within mutations as such.
