Jean M. Judd, Contaminated Water #7: Lily Pads, 2013, thread on rust pigmented hand dyed textile, 26" x 42"

This is the seventh piece in the Contaminated Water series of textile artworks. This series explores the effects of man and nature on this precious natural resource. Rust pigmentation was applied to a hand dyed whole cloth textile. Scientific iron filings were used to create the mutated lily pads. Dense hand stitching emphasizes the interior of each lily pad while the circular pattern in the background gives the piece physical as well as visual texture.
