Jean M. Judd, Shadow of the Past, 2015, Thread on Textile, 43" x 26"

Shadow of the Past is one of the first rust pigmentation experiments done using “old iron” found in the woods surrounding my studio. A shroud from the radiator of a tractor and a brake plate were used to create this artwork. Dense hand stitching was used to draw out various aspects of the pigmentation. The surrounding framing of the piece is a rusty green mottled hand dyed fabric.  A dynamic new piece emerges when the artwork is rotated 180 degrees for display.
