Edgar Soberon, Rosa de los Vientos, 2015, Oil on linen, 49 x 65 in

"Rosa de los Vientos' is a still life painting that was inspired by the idea of exile and memory and harkens back to my days in Cuba.

Its subject and title reflect on the idea of travel by sea.The title was inspired by the figure on the compass or nautical charts. This figure is used to display orientation of the cardinal points and is often called a Compass Rose, Windrose or Rose of the Winds.
