Diana Riukas, The Dress Project, 2006, mixed media on fabric, 144x144"

Funded by an artist grant from the Philadephia Cultural Alliance and in partnership with the Women's Caucus for Art, I created the Dress project. In collaboration with artists and non-artists nation-wide, The art on fabric which was contributed addressedthemes such as, women's ssexuality, gender stereotypes, and female rolemodels. With the variety of imagery collected I hoped to challenge the traditional standards of appearance and behavior represented by a dress as well as make a statement about the different levels of female personal identity.

"The Dress Project" was featured in an article in " Women in the Arts Magazine" which is published by the National Museum of Women in the Arts (Fall 2006).
