Nicole Gayton, Binx, 2011, plaster cast two part mold, 8" x 5"

When a person thinks of Florida their mind tends to pull references to alligators, tourism and sunshine. This piece is a combination of a bone of an alligator and the bust of a cheap nik-nak which could be bought at any tourist shop in Florida. While there are connections to one local and familiar place, the plaster casting of the combined sculpture created an other-worldly form meant to intrigue the viewer.
