Lancaster County artist, Claire Giblin, was born and educated in New York City. She studied fine art under the tutelage of professional artist and historian, Vincent Mercaldo, attended and studied at F.I.T., Lebanon Valley College, Millersville University and Franklin & Marshall College. Giblin is the recipient of national and regional awards in art, including the 2002 Grumbacher Gold Medallion, and the 2000 National Grand Prize Winner of NAOFA. Giblin was honored as 2003 Woman of the Year by the Women's Center at Franklin & Marshall College. She has curated exhibitions, led workshops, participated in government funded exhibitions, solo shows, joint, invitational, national and international juried exhibits, museum and gallery exhibitions in the US, Spain, Italy, Japan, New Zealand and Korea, and has served as juror and panelist for art organizations and the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts. Her work is in national and international corporate, museum and private collections.  Claire most recently was co-owner and Director of Pfenninger Gallery in Lancaster City. She is currently curator of collections for the Phillips Museum of Art on the campus of Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA where she has served as instruction, introductory painting, assists with curatorial seminars, facilitates a weekly life sketching group and teaches a professional practices workshop for student artists and art majors. Giblin completed a certificate course of study at NYU in 2012 in the area of Appraisal Studies in Fine and decorative Arts.  She is an Associate of Appraisers Association of America.
